As part of several announcements this week, the federal and provincial governments gave funding to the Moose Jaw YMCA to help defray the cost of upgrading its building.
"These are partnership programs and this one is under RINC, it's part of Canada's Economic Action Plan as put forward by the government," said Palliser MP Ray Boughen.
Through a cost-sharing program the federal and provincial governments along with the City of Moose Jaw each kicked in $46,000 toward replacing the air handling unit, expansion of the mezzanine, and refurbishment of the racquetball courts.
Moose Jaw North MLA Warren Michelson says it always helps when all levels of government get involved. "When you can put the three levels of government together you can get substantial funding for infrastructure and expanding facilities."
