One week after the earthquake that continues to cause havoc in the poverty-stricken Caribbean nation of Haiti, Moose Jaw organizations are busy fundraising for relief.

Regardless of denomination, all churches the Times-Herald contacted on Tuesday were accepting donations from congregation members for Haiti relief.

At Central Lutheran Church, Rev. Doug Shepherd said his congregation started its Haiti fundraising campaign with a country gospel service on Sunday night, which managed to raise $2,552 and church members are still donating to the cause.

At Victory Church, Rev. Dan Godard said his church would be continuing to accept donations towards Haiti relief for the next three months.

He said Victory Church currently has seven churches in Haiti. He said the leader of those churches fortunately survived the earthquake. However, there was lots of other structural damages.

According to Godard, the world-wide Victory Church organization would probably wait to send aid to Haiti, with intentions to help out more with rebuilding efforts in the poverty-stricken country.
