There’s a “growing interest and excitement” around Moose Jaw’s downtown multiplex and soccer facility/field house, says Mayor Glenn Hagel.
He said the projects are progressing according to plan and he played down negative comments about the facilities and construction.
“I have heard a lot of comments around town from people as they see both projects taking shape that they are amazed at the size of the buildings and can start to visualize the use of the buildings as they become more tangible.
“I think there’s a growing interest and excitement around the city about both of the facilities and more about the use of the facilities, which is what it’s all about.”
Hagel said the bottom line was that two referendums have been passed in favour of the multiplex.
“There’s no democratic question whatsoever about the city’s obligation to do what the citizen wants,” he said. “To me, it’s the basic principle of democracy that people always have the right to express their views.”
