“Mac the Moose’s new best friend.”
That’s how City of Moose Jaw Coun. Fraser Tolmie referred to the Tutor jet outside Tourism Moose Jaw during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the plane on Thursday.
Federal, provincial and municipal government dignitaries, as well as representatives from 15 Wing, Tourism Moose Jaw and various businesses that donated money towards the project attended the official unveiling, although the jet was actually transported to Tourism Moose Jaw in December.
Candis Kirkpatrick, Tourism Moose Jaw executive director, told the Times-Herald visitation at the tourism information centre certainly has increased since the jet found its new home on a pedestal a few months ago.
“I know it will make a huge difference out there,” she said, adding not a day goes by that lots of vehicles don’t part in the Tourism Moose Jaw parking lot, with curious travellers checking out the Tutor.
“It’s something else for the tourism mix. It definitely validates that we are a tourism destination.”
