Moose Jaw’s Lucien Cossette certainly found lots of valuable information during Saturday’s 50-plus Expo at the Cosmo Senior Citizen’s Centre.
“It’s been a very good morning,” he told the Times-Herald after picking up some information from a Services Canada kiosk.
Palliser MP Ray Boughen, who hosted the weekend senior information event, said lots of elderly Moose Javians have questions regarding Canada Pension Plan, such as when they can retire, what are the payment dates, as well as other concerns regarding Services Canada.
He said lots of people call his riding office with questions along these lines, so it made sense to organize the expo, which gave local seniors a chance to speak one-on-one with government services experts, as well as listen to presentations on the subject.
However, the expo wasn’t limited to Services Canada. There were information booths covering a range of topics, including health care, vacation destinations, housing, transportation, investments and continued education.
Boughen said about 100 people attended the expo and he considers it quite successful.
