Seniors in Moose Jaw will now have a place to develop computer literacy skills thanks to some funding from the Federal Government.
Palliser MP Ray Boughen made the announcement Friday that $23,050 will be coming to the Moose Jaw Literacy Network's Horizons Lifelong Learning Centre, "It's a part of a program that our government has for seniors, there's three different facets of it and this part of the program addresses community needs in terms of continued learning by seniors and continuing involvement in their own community. So, here's a chance now for seniors to learn about computer and how computer work in the world we all live in."
Literacy Coordinator for the Moose Jaw Literacy Network Sharon Bourdeau tells us what this funding means for the Centre, "It's another way that we have supported within the community in need and fill that gap. What we do is support a whole variety of programs and activities within our community, we don't want to create something new, we want to sustain and support the very good things already going on here in our city."
Bourdeau adds that this funding enables them to help out seniors who are wanting to stay in touch with their community.
